Department of Sanskrit

Sanskrit, one of the most ancient languages in the world has an extremely rich repertoire of literature and grammatical structures. It is rich in vocabulary, meaning and structure. It is also an ancient heritage of India. Learning Sanskrit opens up the doors to our past cultural practices, our heritage and traditions.
The department of Sanskrit was established with the inception of the college as an independent college. At present Sanskrit can be opted as a general subject in combination with any of the other subjects offered under the arts stream. The department currently has one visiting faculty.

Ms.Alolika Roy, Visiting Faculty

Qualifications: M.A.

Short Profile: Smt Alolika Roy is a visiting faculty in Syamaprasad College and a State Aided College Teacher in the Department of Sanskrit in Vidyasagar college, Kolkata. She graduated from Lady Brabourne College, Kolkata and completed her post-graduation from Rabindra Bharati University. She is also engaged in Post Graduation teaching at Syamaprasad College Study Centre, affiliated to Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), University of Burdwan.
